The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) was established to foster innovation. IIMA was founded in 1961 by a group of prominent businessmen and philanthropists led by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, a space scientist. It was founded with the help of the federal and state governments, local business owners, the Ford Foundation, and Harvard Business School.
The IIM A Society's Board of Governors governed IIM - A. The DNA of IIMA is based on the concept of operational flexibility.
Several national authorities have consistently named IIM-A the best management school in the country. Furthermore, IIMA programmes are highly regarded in a variety of international rankings. IIM-A now has EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) certification, making it the country's first management school (European Foundation for Management Development).
