About

Over 7,500 students at Cal State Monterey Bay have the exceptional chance to learn on a residential campus approximately one mile from the shores of the stunning Monterey Bay. Our diverse student body pursues degrees in 25 undergraduate and nine graduate majors while receiving individualised attention in small classes.

A new generation of students' needs are being met as CSU Monterey Bay academics and staff seek creative ways to do so while also boosting the local economy. The university was founded in 1994 on the site of Fort Ord by educators and community leaders.

Despite the fact that we accept students from all areas of California, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties account for 38% of our undergraduate students. We take pleasure in providing low-income and traditionally marginalised people with access to higher education. 72 percent of our students get financial aid in some capacity. A whopping 53% of our students are among the first in their families to attend college. We are also one of the most residential universities in the CSU, with 52% of our students living on campus.

The WASC Senior College and University Commission has granted CSU Monterey Bay its accreditation (WSCUC).

The WSCUC accreditation procedure helps CSU Monterey Bay create and maintain successful educational initiatives and provides assurance to the general public, other organisations, and the academic community that this university upholds high standards of quality and effectiveness.

Institutions, not specific programmes, are accredited by the Commission. As a result, the Commission stresses institutional structures, processes, and resources in addition to evaluating institutions' academic quality and educational efficacy.

demonstrating to the academic community, general public, and other groups and agencies that an accredited institution complies with the Commission's Core Commitments to Institutional Capacity and Educational Effectiveness and has successfully undergone a review in accordance with the Commission Standards;

establishing and disseminating best practises for evaluating and enhancing the teaching and learning process, as well as substantial institutional involvement with concerns of educational effectiveness and student learning;

Establishing and implementing standards to evaluate and enhance educational quality and organisational performance, confirming these standards through continual research and feedback, and changing the standards as necessary;

fostering a culture of evidence within institutions, where performance indicators are regularly produced and data is gathered to guide institutional decision-making, planning, and development;

constructing institutional evidence-based institutional review and evaluation systems that may adapt to institutional context and aims, facilitate thorough reviews, and lessen the stress and expense of accreditation;

encouraging the active exchange of ideas between public and independent institutions in order to advance the concepts of increased institutional performance, effective educational practises, and the peer review process.
