About

One of three campuses of Pennsylvania Western Institution, which is a component of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Pennsylvania Western University, California (also known as PennWest California) is a public university located in California, Pennsylvania (PASSHE). The university, which was established in 1852 and joined with PennWest in 2021, grants bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education has accredited it. Cal U, or California University of Pennsylvania, was the previous name of the institution.

38 buildings or so make up the main campus, which is 92 acres in size (37 ha). The school's soccer complex is located on another 9-acre (3.6 hectare) property close to the main campus. A football stadium, other sports facilities, and picnic areas are all part of the 98-acre (40 ha) George H. Roadman University Park, a recreation area that is 1.6 miles from the campus. The student organisation of the university also owns the 25-acre Vulcan Village Student Apartments and 98 acres at the SAI Farm, which is next to Roadman Park. Large virtual university run by Cal U.

State and private grants have recently been awarded to California University to help with campus reconstruction.

Six new dorms, each with a private bathroom, have been built since 2000. Apartment-style living is available at Cal U's Vulcan Village development, which is only a short drive or bus ride from the campus.

The primary centre for student activities on campus is the Elmo Natali Student Center, run by the Student Association, Inc. The student centre houses the student services offices, commuter centre, theatre, performance centre, campus bookstore, the school's radio station, WCAL, and the school's TV and radio stations, CUTV and WCAL, in addition to four unique dining places. As of the summer of 2015, the Union underwent renovations with the intention of incorporating new dining and study rooms for Cal University students.

The new Duda Hall (which replaced the original Duda World Cultures Building) opened in 2007, while the Eberly Science and Technology Center debuted in 1999. Major remodelling and expansion work on Steele Auditorium resulted in its reopening in the fall of 2007.

The Heron Hall leisure centre underwent extensive remodelling and enlargement over the Fall and Spring semesters of 2008, and it was finally ready for usage by students and teachers on Homecoming Day 2009. A swimming pool, two gymnasiums, two racquetball courts, a dance studio, free weights, cardio equipment, free weights, weight machines, and an elevated jogging track are all included in the new facility.
