Elizabeth Harrison, a pioneering social reformer, founded our institution more than 135 years ago with the goal of educating women of modest means to change their communities at home through the kindergarten movement. Our goal of empowering brilliant people to lead wherever they are from and where they want to go was thus launched.

More than 10,000 current National Louis students and 80,000 active alumni are advancing their fields of work and communities today. NLU is positioned for greater local, national, and international influence thanks to locations in the Chicago area and Tampa, Florida, as well as Kendall's well-established international network of students.

NLU is home to the Kendall College of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management, the Graduate School of Business and Leadership, the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, the Undergraduate College, and the National College of Education. More than 70 programmes are available to students, including associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a range of disciplines, including management, human services, teaching, counselling, and public policy, among others. The addition of culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, and hotel management broadens the range of career paths available to students and enables us to better equip graduates for the flourishing culinary and hospitality industries around the world.
