Duquesne University is the sole Spiritan institution of higher learning in the United States and was founded by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. We aspire to the same high standards of education, moral and spiritual principles, an ecumenical environment welcoming of diversity, and service to the Church, the community, the country, and the globe as the Spiritans.
Numerous nations and every state in the union send students to Duquesne. Our faculty's passion for learning and persistence make their classes and instruction fascinating. Our faculty-to-student ratio is 14:1, giving students lots of direct access to prominent and award-winning scholar-teachers as they learn alongside them.
Students also gush about how conveniently located our lovely campus is to downtown Pittsburgh. You can take in the self-contained park-like campus and a unique vista of the city skyline while traversing Academic Walk to get to class.
PPG Paints Arena, the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins and notable music events, is a short distance from campus. You can find plays, concerts, comedies, and the ballet in Pittsburgh's cultural area, which is a few more blocks into the city. The downtown area and the surrounding neighbourhoods are filled with shops and eateries.
