An official TOEFL test, IELTS exam, PTE score, or Duolingo score of 110 can be used to demonstrate English competence.
- For candidates who completed coursework outside of the United States, Seattle University will be in charge of evaluating the necessary academic records for students. The assessment, which determines if the degree obtained outside of the United States is equal to a U.S. degree and computes a GPA, is not an English translation of the academic records.
- While submitting for admission to Seattle University, applicants must present an official original set of transcripts, degree certificates, and/or graduation certificates. Only when a document is received in the original envelope from the issuing institution or when it is electronically submitted to the institution system through a protected institution network are documents regarded official. We wouldn't ask for formal student documentation in the native language if we only received them in English.

Academic Eligibility:
- English proficiency is required at a very high level for international students. Applicants who did not get a bachelor's degree at an American institution or college and whose first language is not English must have obtained the minimum needed TOEFL or IELTS scores.
- Candidates must possess a JD degree or a foreign equivalent to be eligible for admission to the LLM program.
- Official transcripts from every university you attended to study law. Undergraduate transcripts are not required for American students. If the transcript is not in English, a certified translation must be included.
- If English is not your first language, ETC must submit an authentic TOEFL score record. TOEFL is waived for students whose native language is English, who attended an educational institution in which English was the predominant language of instruction, or who worked for one year or more in an English-speaking setting.
- The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is optional.

Academic Eligibility:
- Evidence of at least a four-year bachelor's degree achieved from a U.S. equivalent or a regionally accredited school. Transcripts, degree certificates, and test score reports for all institutions attended in the past 60 semester/90 quarter credits, as well as any postbaccalaureate credits, should be submitted in either official or unofficial form. The Academic History page of the application allows you to submit unofficial transcripts for your institution(s). After submitting your application, you can upload the transcript(s) via your Status Page. You must provide official copies of your provisional papers within your first quarter of enrollment after receiving an offer of admission.
- A 3.00 GPA in the last 90 quarter/60 semester credits is recommended. Probationary admittance with less than a 3.00 GPA is available in certain circumstances. Candidates with a bachelor's degree from a non-graded university must provide authentic GRE scores instead of GPA.
- Candidates for whom English is a second language must demonstrate English competency regardless of English language studies, academic history, residency in the United States or an English-speaking nation, or immigration status. - Seattle University will be responsible for evaluating students' requisite academic records for candidates who completed courses outside of the United States. The evaluation is not an English translation of the academic records, but rather a distinct document that determines if the degree earned outside the United States is equal to a degree earned in the United States, and a GPA is determined.
- An official original set of transcripts, degree certificates, and/or graduation certificates must be submitted to Seattle University upon admission. Documents are considered official only when they arrive in the original envelope from the issuing institution or sent electronically via a secured institution to the institution system. If students’ official documents are received in English we would not ask for them in the original language as well.
- GPA of at least 3.00 in the past 90 quarters or 60-semester credits, plus any postbaccalaureate courses.
