The combination of two enduring traditions led to the creation of the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, which has roots in 1854. We are the product of the union of an engineering school founded on the tenet that you can be born anywhere but made right here in Brooklyn with a top-tier research university in and of the city.
Students of all backgrounds can embark on their journeys to fulfilling employment, business success, technological innovation, and, perhaps most importantly, self-discovery at NYU Tandon. Our former students have gone on to create businesses, venture beyond the planet, succeed in the boardroom, and excel in their academic professions.
They share our institution's fundamental conviction that leveraging science and technology will result in a more just society and a greener, safer, and more interconnected world.
The foundation of NYU Tandon is a thriving tradition of entrepreneurship, intellectual curiosity, and creative responses to the most serious global concerns facing humanity.
Tandon's research focuses on the crucial interconnections between communications/IT, cybersecurity, data science/AI/robotics systems and technologies and important societal domains that they affect, such as emerging media, health, sustainability, and urban life.
The Brooklyn Collegiate and Polytechnic Institute and the New York University School of Civil Engineering and Architecture both had their establishment years in 1854, which is also the year that the NYU Tandon School of Engineering was established. The word "American Dream" was first used in 1931 by one of our former students, James Truslow Adams, who attended our school.
Tandon is still a location where aspirational students from all walks of life can go to receive the high-quality education they require to start their careers. With tight ties to the engineering programmes at NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai, a comprehensive school of instruction and research in engineering and applied sciences was established as part of a global university in January 2014. We are fostering a lively, inclusive, and egalitarian environment for all of our students, professors, and staff because we think that diversity is essential to achievement.
The School of Engineering is the ideal place to further your study because of our position as a leader in worldwide education, as well as our top-notch faculty and cutting-edge facilities.
