Cal State San Bernardino, sometimes known as CSUSB, is a public research university located in San Bernardino, California. It was one of the 23 general campuses of the California State University system when it was established in 1965. The main campus is located on 441 acres (178 ha) in San Bernardino's University District. A 40-acre (16-hectare) satellite campus was established there in 1986. Fall 2020 enrollment at Cal State San Bernardino was 19,404. It employed 310 full-time faculty members in the fall of 2018, 220 of them (71 percent) were on the tenure track.
Offering 123 Bachelor's degree programmes, 61 Master's degree programmes, two Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Education Leadership with specialisations in Community College and K–12, and 23 teaching qualifications, the university is categorised as having a strong research activity.
The athletic teams at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) compete in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association under the name Coyotes. The campus's neighbourhood, which is in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, is home to coyotes, which are the source of the nickname. Thirteen CCAA championships, eight West Region crowns, and a national crown have been won by the CSUSB women's volleyball team. Having won the school's first California Collegiate Athletic Association championship, the men's soccer team advanced to the NCAA Division II national semifinals. It serves Hispanic students at the university.
Academic Life
Like many other colleges, the campus's broad local outreach and retention initiatives play a significant role in student life. In the California State University system, CSU Sand Bernardino has the highest percentage of Mexican Americans enrolled as of fall 2018. A wide variety of countries and ethnicities can be found on the CSUSB campus. Over 100 student clubs and groups, including ones focused on academia, culture, religion, service, and politics, may be found at CSUSB.
