California State University, East Bay was established in 1957 and now enrols almost 14,000 students. It had 863 faculty members as of the fall of 2021, and 358 of them (or 41%) were tenure-track. With additional campus locations in the surrounding cities of Oakland and Concord, Hayward is home to the university's largest and oldest college campus.
