About

In Mount Pleasant, Michigan, there is a public research institution called Central Michigan University (CMU). The private normal school, which had been founded in 1892 as the Central Michigan Normal School and Business Institute, changed its name to Central State Normal School in 1895 after the Michigan State Board of Education assumed control of the institution's management. Under the leadership of Judson W. Foust, the university's sixth president, the school came into its own as a university and adopted its present name in 1959.

The School of Engineering and Technology offers Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Environmental Engineering programmes that are ABET approved. Fall 2013 saw the debut of the CMU College of Medicine.
