The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, a premier Health Science University in India, was established on June 1, 1996 in Bangalore by the Government of Karnataka through the enactment of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka Act 1994 to encompass all existing health science colleges and institutions that were previously affiliated to the conventional universities in Karnataka with the goal of ensuring proper and systematic instruction, teaching, and research.

The unprecedented growth in the number of institutions and students accepted to various courses in medical and allied health sciences necessitated the need to control, monitor, and standardize curriculum as well as assessment mechanisms. Medical and health science professional education aimed to address society demands for better healthcare. As a result, RGUHS had the vision to provide uniformity in teaching standards and a similar curriculum for the numerous courses offered in different institutions across Karnataka. Only English is used as a medium of instruction.

RGUHS is regarded as one of the top institutions in India, providing the greatest medical education available, with endeavors to create world-class curricula for various courses, propelling it to the forefront of medical education in India.

Based on the ever-changing circumstances and the requirements of society, it has been reforming and initiating new projects to ensure that quality healthcare reaches all parts of the country.

Course Specialization Eligibility

B.A.M.S

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Sciences

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • The candidate must have completed the two-year Pre-University test administered by the Department of Pre-University Education in the Indian state of Karnataka, with English as one of the required subjects and optional courses in physics, chemistry, and biology. The candidate must also have passed English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology separately. Sanskrit-speaking applicants will receive preference. OR,
  • Candidates for admission to the first year of the BAMS course must have passed the PUC examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as one of the languages and have passed the B. Sc Part-I degree examination of any University or equivalent examination administered by statutory Universities or Boards with Science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Botany & Zoology and obtained not less than 50% of the aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who have passed the B. Sc degree examination of any University in India or recognized as equivalent thereto with any three (3) Science subjects and not less than 50% of marks in aggregate are eligible for admission to the BAMS Course provided they have passed in the deficient Scien Zoology), and English as one of the languages at the Pre-University or B. Sc Part 1 level. Nevertheless, for students from SC/ST and Category -1, the minimum percentage of marks required for admission to the BAMS Programme is decreased by 10%.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • The candidate must have completed a two-year pre-university examination administered by the Department of Pre-University Education in Karnataka State, with English as one of the courses and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects. Candidates must have passed English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology separately, as well as PCB with a minimum of 45%.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • The candidate must have completed a two-year Pre-University test administered by the Karnataka State Department of Pre-University Education, with English as one of the courses and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects. Individually, the candidate must have passed English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/Central Government and recognized as equivalent to a two-year Pre-University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and
  • must have completed a science intermediate exam administered by an Indian university, board, council, or other recognized testing organization, which must have included a practical test in each of the three topics (as well as English as a required subject). The candidate must have earned passing grades in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology separately.
  • shall have passed the first year of a three-year degree program at an accredited university in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as a practical test in each of these subjects, if the test is a "University Examination" and the candidate has passed each of the pre-university or other exams mentioned in the clauses above.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A candidate seeking admission to first BDS course :

  • Must have completed the two-year Pre-University Examination administered by the Pre-University Board of Karnataka with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate must additionally have passed English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology individually*.
  • Must have passed any other test administered by Boards, Councils, or Intermediate Education established by State Governments or the Central Government and recognized as being equivalent to the two-year Pre-University Examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects.
  • Biology alone.
  • Must have passed an intermediate science examination in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from an Indian university, board, council, or other recognized testing organization. This examination must have included a practical test in each of these topics, as well as English as a required subject. The candidate must have passed each of the following subjects separately: English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Must have passed the higher secondary school test and the pre-professional/pre-medical exams in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A practical test in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will be part of the pre-professional/pre-medical examination, along with English as a required subject.
  • Shall have passed the first year of a three-year degree course at a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, including a practical test in these subjects, provided the examination is a 'University Examination,' and the candidate has passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology separately in the pre-university or other examinations mentioned in the clauses above.
  • Should have successfully completed the B.Sc. examination in an Indian university, with at least two of the following topics having been taken. If the candidate has passed English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology separately in the qualifying exams indicated in clauses (a), (b), and, then they can take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany, Zoology).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery) must possess a recognized BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) degree awarded by an Indian university in regard to a recognized Dental College under Section 10(2) of the Dentists Act, 1948, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Dental Council of India, and they should have obtained permanent registration with the State Dental Council. Before being enrolled to the MDS Course at any Indian university, candidates without a recognized dental qualification for the aforementioned purpose need first get their credentials approved by the Dental Council of India.
  • Qualification for the aforementioned purpose should acquire prior clearance of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he may be accepted to any MDS Course in India.
  • Applicants holding a PG Diploma approved by the DCI with a length of 2 years (proposed) in a specific specialization are eligible for admission to MDS in the same specialty with a duration of 2 years. The two-year curriculum will follow the guidelines of the relevant university.
  • Provided, however, that in the case of a foreign national, the Dental Council of India may grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the dental college/institution to which he is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies on payment of the prescribed fee for registration; Provided, further temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered as a dentist.

  • Candidates with Ayurveda Vachaspathi (M.D (Ayu) /MS (Ayu) in Ayurveda in all specializations conferred by RGUHS or equivalent P.G. qualification awarded by any other College/University recognized by CCIM/RGUHS are eligible for enrolment in this University's Ph.D. degree in Ayurveda.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Candidates who have passed the two-year PUC examination of the Karnataka PUC Board or an equivalent examination at any other reputable Board or university with at least 40% in any combination of PCM, PCB, PCMB, PC and Computer Science (PCC), PC and Electronics (PCE), PC and Information Science (PCIS), PC and Biotechnology (P.C.Bt.).
  • The P.C.M. or P.C.B. aggregate, whichever is larger, must be taken into consideration for admission in the case of applicants who have taken the P.C.M.B. combination.
  • Students from SC/ST or category I must receive at least 35% in their PUC exam or an equivalent exam from a different board or university that has been approved, in any combination of PCM, PCB, PCMB, PCC, PC and Computer Science (PCC), PC and Electronics (PCC), PC and Information Science (PCC), PC and Biotechnology, or any combination of these (P.C.Bt.).
  • Candidates who have completed a D.Pharm. program that has been approved by the Pharmacy Council of India are also eligible for this program. They will be admitted directly to the II B. Pharm. program 10% above the authorized intake and will be required to take the I B. Pharm. subjects for Mathematics, Computer Sciences, and Statistics in addition to the II B. Pharm. subjects.
