The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, a premier Health Science University in India, was established on June 1, 1996 in Bangalore by the Government of Karnataka through the enactment of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka Act 1994 to encompass all existing health science colleges and institutions that were previously affiliated to the conventional universities in Karnataka with the goal of ensuring proper and systematic instruction, teaching, and research.
The unprecedented growth in the number of institutions and students accepted to various courses in medical and allied health sciences necessitated the need to control, monitor, and standardize curriculum as well as assessment mechanisms. Medical and health science professional education aimed to address society demands for better healthcare. As a result, RGUHS had the vision to provide uniformity in teaching standards and a similar curriculum for the numerous courses offered in different institutions across Karnataka. Only English is used as a medium of instruction.
RGUHS is regarded as one of the top institutions in India, providing the greatest medical education available, with endeavors to create world-class curricula for various courses, propelling it to the forefront of medical education in India.
Based on the ever-changing circumstances and the requirements of society, it has been reforming and initiating new projects to ensure that quality healthcare reaches all parts of the country.
