Private institution Pace University has auxiliary campuses in Westchester County, New York, and its flagship campus in New York City. The Pace brothers, Homer St. Clair and Charles A., founded it as a business school in 1906. Over 13,000 students are enrolled at Pace in bachelor's, master's, and doctorate programs.
At its six colleges and schools, which include the College of Health Professions, the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, the Lubin School of Business, the School of Education, and the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, Pace University offers about 100 majors. In addition, it houses the television program Inside the Actors Studio and provides a Master of Fine Arts in acting through The Actors Studio Theatre School. In addition to operating a business incubator and having ties to Pace High School, the institution also manages a women's justice center in Yonkers.
As the Pace Institute, Pace University expanded to operate in other significant American cities after beginning operations at the New York Tribune Building in New York City. While keeping its location in Lower Manhattan, the organization sold its properties outside of New York in the 1920s. It opened its first campus in Westchester in 1963 after buying its first permanent residence at 41 Park Row in Manhattan in 1951. Pace unveiled 1 Pace Plaza, its largest structure, in 1969. It was converted to a university four years later.
