The institutions are inspired by the late DC Kizhakemuri's innovative leadership, whose life as a teacher, freedom fighter, social activist, writer, visionary leader, and innovative publisher earned him love, respect, and immense goodwill during his lifetime, which continues to this day. He is the driving force behind India's paperback revolution, which has made books more affordable to the masses. His tireless efforts eventually compelled the then-Travancore-Cochin Governor to abolish book taxes, and the then-Prime Minister instructed states across India to do the same.
