The institution is situated in a beautiful environment at Gotagodi, which is in a geographical transition zone between the majestic Sahyadri mountain range to the west and the undulating Northern Maidan plain to the east. The campus is situated inside the Shiggavi Taluk, Haveri District, Karnataka revenue limits.
There is no question that this university would make the lively folk culture of Karnataka the most visible among all other cultural forms in the state and realise the important initiative of the Karnataka government. This university is currently the only one in all of Asia that offers students studying folklore cutting-edge teaching, learning, and research opportunities. It is dedicated to succeeding in realising its vision and goal.
The creation of this institution has undoubtedly given higher education in Karnataka a fresh perspective that other linguistic states of India could imitate as the next step in interdisciplinary research on Kannada culture.
Exploring traditional art and cultural grandeur through research is urgently required, as is disseminating the rich talent of particular arts that are ingrained in the lives of the people of our country. There is a vast amount of knowledge that has yet to be used to its full potential. The Folklore University has now been created.
