OCAD University was established in 1876 and is committed to knowledge and creativity across many different areas as well as the practice and research of art and design. OCAD U consistently expands on its conventional, studio-based strengths by introducing fresh modes of instruction that support interdisciplinary practice, teamwork, and the use of cutting-edge technology. Members of the OCAD U community are particularly suited to serve as catalysts for the upcoming improvements in culture, technology, and quality of life for all Canadians in the Age of Imagination.
Our research and educational initiatives include the realms of digital media and design, sustainability, wellness, cultural diversity, and indigenous cultures.
Along with critical, theoretical, scientific, and historical knowledge and methodologies, our students participate in creative studio-based, aesthetic, and technical learning.
Finally, our location is motivating. On the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabeg, and the Huron-Wendat, who are the original owners and stewards of the land on which we live, work, and create, is where OCAD University is located.
