Formerly known as Sambalpur College and Gangadhar Meher College, Gangadhar Meher University, Amruta Vihar is a state university located in Sambalpur, Odisha, India. Gangadhar Meher, an Odia poet, inspired its name. Currently, Smt. Jugaleswari Dash serves as registrar, and Uma Charan Pati serves as deputy registrar. N Nagaraju serves as vice-chancellor.

In 1944, Sambalpur College, which had 192 students, founded the university. In 1949, Gangadhar Meher College became the official name of the organisation. In 2015, it received the status of university and changed its name to Gangadhar Meher University.
