The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University is a top educational institution in central India. Established in 1923, the University's premises are stretched over 373 acres and include heritage buildings, 7 beautiful green campuses with gardens, abundant biodiversity, and spiritual antecende of Tukadoji Maharaj, which stimulates the academic culture inside the University. The University sincerely believes in and follows Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj's prophesy, "Hya Bharat Bandhu-Bhav-Nitya Vasu se, de varchasa de," which means "may brotherhood prevail in this country." RTMNU is favoured by students from other states since it is located in the center of India and has connectivity to other parts of the country.

For formal education, the University has 46 Postgraduate Teaching Departments (PGTD) and 3 Constituent Colleges/Institutions, as well as 503 associated colleges that provide UG, PG, MPhil, and PhD degrees to almost four lakh students. All departments have their own buildings that are equipped with ICT. Around eight science departments are UGC-Special Assistance Program (SAP) and DST_FIST recognized. The university has academic connections with major universities like as IUC-CSR-DAE, New Delhi, Pennsylvania State University, USA, University of Florida, USA, and University of Washington, USA, to mention a few. These programs are reinforced with non-formal education to instill human values and cover local need-based education.

The University's three-tier library is a famous illustration of its extensive reading culture. The University's V.B. Kolte Central Library, the Narsimharao Digital Library, and departmental libraries are well-stocked with thousands of books as well as a diverse collection of national and international publications. In the last five years, the University's competent, enthusiastic, and dedicated faculty have had around 1294 research papers published in reputed national and international journals, 461 books published, 46 fully funded research projects, 41 e-learning modules, 10 patent applications, and 15 patents granted to their credit.
