The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956.

Since its inception, the Vision of the TISS has been to be an institution of excellence in higher education that continually responds to changing social realities through the development and application of knowledge, towards creating a people-centred, ecologically sustainable and just society that promotes and protects dignity, equality, social justice and human rights for all.

Master of Health Administration

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in any area or a four-year bachelor's degree in medicine or paramedical science, as well as other four-year programs like pharmacy, engineering, law, or veterinary science.
  • Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for MHA Programme.
  • Candidates require to successfully complete all the requirements of their final year eligible degree by October 31 of the admission year.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

Candidates seeking admission to the LLM programme must have earned a Bachelor's or Master's Degree of at least 3 or 4 years duration or its equivalent from an institution recognized by the institution Grants Commission of India. Some Masters Degree programs will have additional/specific qualifying requirements.

  • LL.B. degree with 50% (45% for SC/ST). Candidates who will be taking the final LL.B. examination in April/May can also apply.
  •  Shortlisted students are then required to attend personal interviews.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

  • Educational Qualifications: A Second Class Master's or equivalent degree in the relevant subject awarded by a recognized university in India or abroad, with at least a 55% aggregate mark average, or a grade point average of 3.5 on the University Grants Commission's (UGC) seven-point scale, is required for admission to the integrated M.Phil. & Direct Ph.D programmes. The minimum eligibility for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates is 50% of aggregate marks, or a grade point average of 3.05.
  • Candidates who are anticipated to complete all requirements of their final year Master's Degree exams by July 1 are also eligible to apply for M.Phil, provided they have successfully finished their first year Masters degree. Admission will be conditional in such instances. If a provisionally admitted student successfully completes the admission formalities, such as passing the Research Aptitude Test, but fails to achieve the minimum required mark/grade at the end of his/her Master's degree final year examination, the provisional admission offer will be automatically withdrawn.

  • Admission to any of the Institute's Master's Degree Programmes will be provisional until the candidate submits the results of the final year degree examination. The final examination results must be submitted by September 29, 2018. Those who do not comply will have their interim entry revoked.
