About

In accordance with the Maharashtra Universities Act, XXIX of 1989, the Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (previously known as North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon) was established on August 15, 1990. It began its academic and administrative operations in the academic year 1991–1992. In a 3-year period, the University was granted recognition under the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, sections 2 (f) in 1991 and 12 (B) in 1994. Three districts—Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar—in the predominantly tribal and rural Khandesh region fall under the purview of the university. The majority of "first generation learners" from this region have access to higher education thanks to the university. The University's educational endeavour is focused on access, equity, and academic excellence.

Currently serving as Vice-Chancellor is Prof. V. L. Maheshwari. Vice-Chancellors who have come after them have led the university with success in the past.
