RECs were established in 1961 to provide technical education in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering. The Central Government changed the name of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVREC) in Surat to Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) in Surat in 2002 and accorded it the status of "Deemed University" in 2007.

Institute currently offers six undergraduate programmes, 19 graduate programmes, and three M.Sc. five-year integrated programmes, including a doctoral programme.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Aspirants seeking admission to 4 years Full-time B.Tech should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT

  • The candidate must have successfully completed his or her 12th grade with at least 50% of the total possible grades from an accredited board of education.
  • There should be a 5% relaxation for all SC/ST candidates.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • The candidate must have earned a B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch., or equivalent degree in the relevant subject from an accredited university with at least 60% of the required marks (CGPA of 6.5).
  • After graduating, the candidate should have at least two years of job experience. It is necessary to have at least a year of continuous experience with the sponsoring organization.

For Reserved SC/ST Category

  • Candidate must have earned a minimum of 55% in their respective B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch., or comparable degree (CGPA 6.0).
  • The candidate should have at least two years of work experience following graduation. It is necessary to have at least a year of continuous experience with the sponsoring organization.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • The institute's requirements for admission to the 5 years full-time Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] + Master of Science [M.Sc] program is as follows.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT

  • Candidate must have received 45% or an equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates and 50% or an equivalent grade for general category candidates in Biology as one of the optional subjects in the 10+2 Science Stream or equivalent from any recognized board in India.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Candidates for admission to the Full-Time Ph.D. program should satisfy the following requirements, according to the institute.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT

  • The candidate must have a master's degree in the field of study and should have received at least a second-class passing grade with a minimum of 50% (CGPA=5.5) or equivalent in the appropriate engineering faculty and 55% in other circumstances, such as programs linked to the humanities and sciences.
