National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur or NIT - DGP) is a public technical university in Durgapur, West Bengal, India. It was earlier known as Regional Engineering College Durgapur. Founded in 1960 on a 187-acre campus.
In 2021, the university was ranked 6th among NITs, 29th for engineering[8], and 71st overall in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework.
NIT Durgapur offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering, science, architecture, and management, among other fields. The institute comprises 14 departments, over 200 faculty members, and over 4,000 students enrolled.
