The National Institute of Technology (NIT) is a public research university Agartala was founded in 1965 as Tripura Engineering College and was connected with Calcutta University after adopting the Bengal Engineering College curriculum framework. After decades of progress, the AICTE authorised the National Institute of Technology Agartala's renaming as the National Institute of Technology and designation as a "Institute of National Importance" in 2006. NIT Agartala was founded with the goal of producing highly qualified professionals in science, engineering, and management who would meet both national and international educational standards.
