National Institute of Technology Hamirpur began as a Regional Engineering College with two departments, Civil and Electrical Engineering, each with a 30 student intake was started on the 7th of August 1986. In June 26, 2002, REC Hamirpur was designated as a Deemed University, and on June 5, 2007, it was promoted to National Institute of Technology as a National Institute of National Importance.
Bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in Engineering, Sciences, Architecture, Management, and Humanities are available at NIT Hamirpur. The institute works hard to promote a sense of national integration among students, as well as tight collaboration with industry and a strong focus on research. The institute has the ability to evolve and alter in response to industry demands and technological developments.
