NIT Mizoram was established in the state of Mizoram in the year 2010 with the goal of providing education, research, and training leading to B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD degrees. Students are admitted through the All India Entrance Exam- Joint Entrance Exam, which has been designated as an Institute of National Importance (JEE Main).
The institute is nestled in Mizoram's picturesque grandeur, surrounded by clouds and mountain peaks, adding to its allure. With a literacy rate of 91 percent, it is one of our country's most educated states, with a highly quiet and calm environment conducive to learning. To meet today's competitive needs, the Institute has laboratories with the most up-to-date technology and software.
The Institute is now operating out of a makeshift campus in Aizawl. At Chaltlang, there is one administrative block and four academic blocks, three hostel blocks at Tanhril, and one hostel block at Zemabawk. Permanent campus is planned for Lengpui in the Aizawl district. The entire land area delineated is 190.35 acres (770319.12 sqm).
