Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj was started as Regional Engineering College in 1961 & was renamed National Institute of Technology and Deemed University on June 26, 2002, and was accorded the status of institution of national importance on August 15, 2007.
Nine B.Tech., 19 M.Tech. (including part-time), MCA, MBA, M.Sc., Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) and Ph.D. programmes are now available at the institute. The government has designated the Institute as a centre for quality improvement programmes for M.Tech. and Ph.D. students. The Institute assists academics in obtaining higher degrees and advanced training, resulting in the majority of faculty members holding Ph.D. degrees. A 94 Mbps lease line connects the entire campus.
