Rajasthan Government State University (RISU) has been established by Act No. 6 of 2017. The first Vice Chancellor of RISU has been named as Dr. Lalit K. Panwar, a former IAS and Secretary of the Government of India. Almost 3000 students are enrolled in these schools to pursue skill-based education, and 96 skill-related institutions have already joined as affiliates. First semester classes at the linked universities began in July 2018.

The National Skills Qualification Framework may be implemented in the State with the help of RISU, a successful institutional intervention. As it is a government university, RISU serves as the governing authority for several organizations that provide skill and vocational training.
