In accordance with Act No. 6 of 2019 from the 26th of February 2019, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University in Jaipur, Rajasthan, was established as a State University of the Government of Rajasthan. In addition to having a residential campus in Jaipur, the University is required to have jurisdiction over the entire State of Rajasthan in order to affiliate with all law schools.
On March 2, 2020, Dr. Dev Swarup, the institution's first vice chancellor, began serving. By notification No. F.9-6/2020(CPP-I/PU) dated May 12, 2020, and letter No. F.9-6/2020(CPP-I/PU) dated May 14, 2020, the University has received UGC recognition pursuant to section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
