The Sadhu Ram Chand Murmu University of Jhargram, formerly known as Jhargram University, is a public, state-funded university located in the West Bengali district of Jhargram and is associated with the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, India. Jhargram University was founded in 2018 as a result of "The Jhargram University Act, 2017". The Hon. Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee laid the cornerstone for the Jitusol University campus on August 9, 2018. By virtue of "The Jhargram University (Amendment) Act, 2021," the university was renamed Sadhu Ram Chand Murmu University of Jhargram (SRCMUJ) in 2021.

Included under SRCMUJ, the "Centre for Adivasi Studies and Museum" was established as a specialist center for advanced research on tribal life and culture as well as for the preservation and public exhibition of the cultural legacy of the inhabitants of the Jungle Mahal Area.

Located on 27.02 acres of land and encircled by a thick Sal wood forest, the university campus has a distinctive landscape. A four-story Administrative/Academic Building is next to a three-story Guest House named "Jungle Kanya" that has eight AC luxury double-bedded rooms with all modern conveniences. Beside the Guest House is a three-story girls' hostel called "Sahid Matangini Girls' Hostel," which has 100 (one hundred students) beds and may accommodate women.

The University's academic operations began on May 13, 2021, with the appointment of Professor Amiya Kumar Panda as the first Vice-Chancellor amid the exceptional COVID-19 pandemic outbreak (2nd phase). Only four subjects—Santali, Journalism & Mass Communication, English, and Mathematics—were approved by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, allowing the University to provide Post Graduate Courses for the Academic Session 2021-23. Four fields received a total of one hundred seventy-one (171) admissions.

In the third semester of the academic year 2022–2023, a hundred fifty–seven (157) of them were pursuing their post-graduate studies. Six hundred thirty-seven (637) students were admitted to postgraduate, postgraduate diploma, and certificate programs for the academic year 2022–2023 in twelve subjects (including the previous four), including Bengali, History, Santali, English, Journalism & Mass Communication, Music & Performing Arts, Integrated Post Graduate Course in Library & Information Science, Nutrition & Public Health, Kudmali Language & Culture, and Jh.
