The first women's college in Eastern India, Diamond Harbour Women's University, is ideally situated one hour from Kolkata. The newly established institution is drawing students from a variety of backgrounds due to its advantageous location and its comprehensive teaching standards, despite being designed as a target institute for the underprivileged and marginalised women students in South 24 Parganas. Since its founding in 2012, the institute has developed into a vibrant, varied teaching and learning fraternity and has continued to support outreach that is inclusive of all social groups.
