A dream has come true here. By establishing Bankura University, the honourable chief minister Smt. Mamata Bandyopadhyay and the honourable education minister gave physical form to the long-cherished desire of the people of Bankura and re-energized the region's intellectual life in West Bengal.

The West Bengal Act XIX of 2013 created Bankura University, and the governor's approval was first made public in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, on January 6, 2014.

By encouraging the study of indigenous folk and cultural tradition as well as by a sustainable rural and tribal development, Bankura University pledges to advance into a wonderful future. Bankura University is dedicated to the dedicated job of disseminating higher learning in this region.

Bankura, formerly known as Mallabhum, can legitimately take pride in having a long history of outstanding traditional culture. It can be seen in the traditional Dokra art, the artistic and intellectual prowess of the famous Subhankari Arya, a mathematician from the 18th century, the temple town of Bishnupur, and the works of Jamini Roy and Ramkinkar Bej.

His university will maintain and expand one of a kind knowledge-dissemination systems in language, literature, cultural studies, social sciences, and several scientific disciplines.
