The Indian Institute of Information Technology Sri City, Chittoor (IIIT - S) was founded in 2013 with an emphasis on information technology education, research, and development. The institute lies in Sri City (www.sricity.in), about 60 kilometres north of Chennai on the Nellore Highway. Chennai (70 km) and Tirupati (90 km) are the closest airports (70 KMs).
The Institute was established as a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) institution by the Government of India, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, and Industry Partners represented by Sri City Foundation. The Institute is managed by a Board of Governors made up of prominent government, industry, and academic figures. In the disciplines of Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communications Engineering, IIIT - S provides B. Tech, M. Tech, M.S., and Ph. D. programs.
The institute also provides students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to actively participate in research that will aid in the development of an inventive and entrepreneurial attitude. IIITS is known for its highly skilled and dedicated faculty, many of whom hold PhD degrees from internationally prominent universities.
