About

Academic programmes that can integrate discipline-specific knowledge with IT-enabled design, prototyping, and manufacturing considerations are needed. Apart from putting a priority on IT, the new strategy should also place an emphasis on product aesthetics, ergonomics, and functionality.

The Government of India saw the necessity to establish a national institute dedicated solely to Information Technology (IT), Design & Manufacturing (D & M), which would foster excellence in the desired fields. In January 2005, the India Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing (IIITDM) Jabalpur was formed. The Institute's main features include a strong industry interface and close collaboration with other academic and research organisations.
