The Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A) was founded in 1999 as a centre of excellence in information technology (IT). In 2000, the Government of India granted it "Deemed University" status, and in 2014, it was designated as a "National Institute of National Importance." As an apex institute in the field of information technology, IIIT-A has been working to improve the indigenous capability required for profitably utilising and leveraging IT's multi-dimensional aspects.

The 100-acre campus at Deoghat, Jhalwa, was designed using the Penrose Geometry pattern and features beautiful landscaping to provide a relaxing environment. Faculty, employees, and students have access to all of the campus's facilities. The Institute's network extends to the academic and residential regions.
