The Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management -IIITM (later prefixed with ABV in 2002 to honour then-Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee) is an autonomous institute established by the Government of India in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, for producing professionals in the fields of management and information technology. This institute was established to promote higher education, research, and consulting in the fields of information technology and business management.

In 1992, Government of India considered establishing advanced information systems such as IIMs and IITs. Based on a report, national centres for IT and management training were established in 1995.

 

In 1998, PGDMIT (Post Graduate Diploma in Management and Information Technology) was started, followed by PGDIT (Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology) in 1999. Ph. D and 5-year Dual Post Graduate programs were started in 2000.
