About

The institute was founded in 1960 as Medical College, Rohtak. The students were admitted to the Government Medical College, Patiala, which served as a host institution for the first three years. Students were relocated to Rohtak in 1963. In the years since, various expansion strategies have transformed the Institute into a fully established center of Medical Teaching and research in all of Medicine's key fields.

It was merged into the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences in 2008.
