About

The Haryana State Legislative Act No. 21 of 2009 and the Haryana Government Gazette Notification No. 29 of 2009, dated September 16, respectively, established the J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad (formerly known as the YMCA University of Science and Technology).

It had a modest beginning in 1969 as the YMCA Institute of Engineering with an admission of 120 students before the University came into being.

The State Government (formerly Punjab) and the National Council of YMCAs of India collaborated on this Indo-German project with the active support of West German diplomatic missions abroad.

The Institute was founded with the intention of providing technical education to a developing India on the German model and of producing highly practical-oriented employees in specialised engineering domains to satisfy industry-specific technical manpower requirements.

The State Government gave YMCAIE 20 acres of land during its formative years for the development of a teaching block, dorms, and residential complex. German knowledge was used to help build up the laboratory and workshops. From the year 1994 onward, the State Government began sponsoring YMCAIE at 100% grant-in-aid, and in the year 1998, it gained control of the management and the resources. By virtue of Legislative Act 21 of 2009, the YMCAIE became the University. The University was given 12(B) status by the UGC in 2012, allowing it to apply for grants from the UGC. The university received a "A+" grade in the initial accreditation circle from NAAC in 2016.

It received authorization in 2017 to grant affiliation to engineering colleges located in Palwal and Faridabad districts. The State Government of India designated the University Jagadish Chandra Bose University in 2018 by a notice dated 11.10.2018. (Haryana Legislative Act No. 29 of 2018).

The University distinguishes itself from other Universities of Haryana since it has preserved the key components of German education. The advanced machinery and tools in the workshops and laboratories allow the students to operate various machines on their own to gain in-depth information and become proficient in their particular fields of study.

Because its graduates are the top executives in business and industry, the university has a strong network of former students. They have made a substantial contribution to the techno-economic progress of the nation as well as the industrial development of Faridabad.

The University currently grants a four-year B.Tech degree in practically all fields of study. Additionally, it offers UG and PG level courses in science, management, and the arts. The BSc (Animation & Multimedia), BCA, BBA, BA in Journalism & Mass Communication, BA Social Work, and BSc (Hons) in Physics, Chemistry, and Math at the UG level have all been introduced.

The same is true for postgraduate programmes, which include M.Tech (in all subjects), MCA, MBA, MSc (Physics, Chemistry, Environment Studies, Math, Bio-Technology, Botany, Zoology and Microbiology, Animation and Multimedia), and MA (Journalism & Mass Communication and English). The university also provides Ph.D. programmes across all academic fields. Under the auspices of its Community College of Skill Development, the University also offers a number of B.Voc. and skill-related diploma and certificate programmes. (List of classes the CCSD offers)

The university's current campus is located 30 kilometres from Delhi, the national capital, on National Highway-2, Mathura Road. The vast Faridabad-Ballabgarh Industrial Complex is where the university campus is situated. On the Faridabad-Gurugram Road in the village of Bhakari, the State Government has also given the University 18 acres of land for its second campus.
