The State University of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar (previously known as Guru Jambheshwar University) was founded on October 20, 1995 by an Act of the State of Haryana's Legislature to facilitate and promote studies and research in developing fields of higher education with a focus on new frontiers in technology, pharmacy, environmental studies, non-conventional sources of energy, and management studies as well as to achieve excellence in these and connecte On November 1st, 1995, it was formally launched. It bears the name Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj, a saint and 15th-century environmentalist.
On the Delhi-Rohtak-Hisar-Sirsa-Fazilka National Highway (NH-9) and the NH-152, the University is located in Hisar, a rapidly expanding town, which is about 231 kilometres from Chandigarh. The University has a huge area of around 372 acres. The site is organised with a beautiful environment, several structures of diverse styles, and a substantial road system. It displays a spectacle of architectural harmony and unspoiled beauty. A total of 275 acres of land have been created, including all necessary amenities including parks, lawns, street lights, and water supply.
There are two cafeterias at the university, each having a large dining hall, a kitchen, a store, etc. In addition, there is a shopping centre with a number of amenities including a saloon, a laundry, a post office, a book store, a bank with an ATM, a grocery store, a shop selling sweets, a milk parlour, a store selling cards and souvenirs, a computer lab, and so on.
The University has received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) for the recognition of degrees on 11.1.1996 and under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act to be eligible for central support on 7.2.1997. The University received grade A accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2002, and grade A accreditation with a cumulative grade point average of 3.26 was granted to the institution in 2009. The University was subsequently granted a third accreditation as an A Grade with a CGPA of 3.28 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, for a term of five years from 10.12.2014 to 09.12.2019 and was further extended for two years, or up to 09.12.2021. The University has submitted an application for NAAC accreditation under the fourth cycle.
The Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Central Instrumentation Laboratory is a renowned facility that not only offers resources to university scholars, but also meets the demands of other institutions in the area for research. In order to support its students' creative ideas, the university offers the highly regarded Pandit Deendayal Upadhya Innovation and Incubation Center and Start Up Schemes. For this centre, the University has got the highest funds in the state of Haryana from RUSA, MHRD. The University has received a ranking in the coveted Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022 in the 1001–1800 Rank Band. The University has also received a ranking in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022 in the 601–800 rank range for the Physical Sciences topic area.
Additionally, The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2022 placed the university between positions 401 and 500. By earning a position between 351-400 in the prestigious Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2022, the university has added another feather to its cap of worldwide recognition.
The only university from Haryana to make an impact in these esteemed rankings is GJU&ST. The University placed 27th in the pharmacy category of the NIRF Rankings 2021, 88th in the university category, and in the 201-250 Rank range in the engineering category. The University has been rated in BAND A between 6th and 25th in the category of Government- and Government-Aided Universities in the Atal Ranking of Institutional Innovations and Achievements (ARIIA-2020) by the Education Ministry of the Government of India.
The UGC has classified the university as a Category-II university, and it has been awarded graded autonomy. One of the 21 State Universities in the nation to acquire this status is this one. The Global Initiative Academic Network (GIAN) Phase-III Scheme, a distinguished MHRD programme, has also once again accepted this university. According to the University of Indonesia, Jakarta's 2021 UI Green Matric World University Rankings, the university is the 494th-most sustainable university in the world. The University received the State's top honour for raising awareness of alcoholism and drug abuse prevention. The faculty has published around 3312 research articles in reputable peer-reviewed publications that are included in SCOPUS and have received a total of 62723 citations. Numerous research projects have been finished in several disciplines, and our staff is now managing a number of continuing research initiatives.
