The fundamental prerequisite for each region's development is education. In order to satisfy the demand of the Kachchh people, the Gujarati government made the admirable decision to establish a separate university in the Kachchh district. In March 2003, the Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University Act was released in the Government Gazette.
The ten colleges in the Kachchh district that had previously been affiliated with the Gujarat University were all transferred to the Kachchh University on June 22, 2004, per Gujarat State Notification No. GH/SH/5/KUG-2104-1648-Kh.
The Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University presently goes by the name "The Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University." The illustrious leader Shyamji Krishna Verma of Mandvi, Kachchh, inspired the independence struggle from outside of India.
The University was acknowledged by notice No. F:9-11/2003/CPP-1 as complying with UGC 2(f). Dated: 3-2-2004.
On September 24, 2004, the Hon. Chief Minister of Gujarat State lay the cornerstone for the development of the Kachchh University Campus. The Gujarat State is funding construction on the campus for the administrative blocks, four faculty blocks, the library, the computer building, the guest house, and the boys' and girls' hostel, with an estimated budget of 35 crores. The Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University began its academic and administrative operations at a new campus in 2007–2008.
Founded in 2004, the university now has 28 colleges, more than 15000 students, and almost 200 faculty members working in the faculties of arts, commerce, science, education, law, technology, including engineering, and pharmacy. The university originally had 10 colleges. The institution offers higher education on par with other colleges and universities in India and the state.
More than 500 students participated in the Inter University Culture and Sports Activities hosted by AIU, which the University sponsors to support the students and provide them a platform ( Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi). The student from the connected institution won second place in the "Collage Painting" category of the youth festival at the west zone intercollegiate competition in the academic year 2005–2006.
The youth festival's "Mimicry" event saw a student from an allied college place third in the West Zone Inter University Tournament in 2007–2008.
