150 colleges in the districts of Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umariya, and Singrauli are under the jurisdiction of the APS University, a teaching- and research-focused institution of higher learning.
Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh, a notable native son and independence fighter, is the name of the university. Founded on July 20, 1968, the university received UGC recognition in February 1972. It belongs to both the All Commonwealth Association of Universities and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) (ACAU).
The University sits 5 kilometres north of Rewa City on a 246.20-acre tract of ground, with its campus situated on either side of Rewa-Sirmour Road. The University complex includes the Environmental Biology, Physics, Science, Humanities, and Ambedkar Bhawan (Hindi Department) departments, as well as the USIC, Central Library, Antarbharati, Arjun Chhatra Griha, Guest House, Yoga Hall Hostels for Boys and Girls, Auditorium, Stadium, and Staff Quarters. It also includes the overlooking administrative block. Additionally, the campus houses offices of the Indian Post Office, Employment Bureau, and Allahabad Bank in addition to a medical dispensary. A modest meteorological observatory and a seismological observatory are both in the works.
The University Campus, which is quaint and environmentally friendly and is located away from the rush of city life, sits at the foot of Vindhyas. The Campus recreates the atmosphere of bygone Ashrams. The occupants still have access to all the latest conveniences and amenities, including a canteen, Xerox and STD facilities, as well as a small shopping complex. The property also has a sizable gym, a yoga studio, a vast stadium, and a Lord Shiva temple sandwiched between a modest park (greenery).
