 BHUPATHIRAJU SUBBATATA RAJU – VELAGALA LEELAVATHI MEMORIAL DEGREE COLLEGE (BH.S.R – V.L.M DEGREE COLLEGE) was established in 1994 by ANAND EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY, Devarapalli, Members of our Society are well Educated, knowing the Value of Education and having real interest to Promote Education in Rural Area, They all supported with Great Minds and Hearts to the Founder Doddigarla Suvarna Raju, Chairman & Correspondent, S/o Premanandam And Lakshmikanthamma Hails from an Agriculture Labour Family, Gutala Village, Polavaram Mandal. They want his son should study well and settle in Higher Position, so he studied with Dedication and Completed M.A.M.L., In Andhra University Campus, Visakhapatnam.

        During his Post Graduation Phase, He was elected as The President of Students Union of Arts, Commerce and Law Colleges in the year 1987 in Andhra University. As a Student’s Leader, He has done many Inspiring Activities for the Welfare of the Students Community and Participated in many movements in support of Students and Student’s Communities with the blessings of his Guru Dr. Maddi Gopal Krishna Reddy, Ex Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Soon after his Post Graduation Phase, He thought of Nurturing the Young Minds of Rural Areas (as he was from Rural Area background) and he believes, The Nation’s Growth is in the hands of Youth living in Rural Areas and Decided to Serve with Low Hanging Fruits in the Society (i.e., Education), is the root of Development of an individual with Knowledge and Abilities. Establishment of Educational Institution in Upland Rural Area is the Biggest Challenge, but his Extreme Commitment, Passion and Hard work, with Strongest Motto "సామాన్యులకు అసమాన్య విద్య - Uncommon Education to Common Man" with the Blessings from God, Suggestions from Well-wishers and Support from Family Members started his journey as an Individual. Now, He is the Pioneer and Inspiration for too many Individuals.

        Initially academic classes were conducted in altered "కోళ్ల ఫామ్ షెడ్లు – Hatchery Sheds", strength of college in academic year 1994-95 was 27 students only. He strived to achieve his objectives apart from academic education, has started Career Guidance Classes, Coaching to Government Job Seekers in their relevant fields, NSS Activities by Clean and Green Activities in and around villages. Consequently, He developed the college with Permanent Structure of R.C.C Roof buildings in three acres of own land, situated beside State Highway Eluru Road, Devarapalli (Post & Mandal), West Godavari District. In addition to Qualified Permanent Teaching Staff, the College consists of full pledged Infrastructural Facilities Like Laboratories, Library, Play Grounds with Sufficient Sports Material, a Digital Seminar Hall along with College Attached Hostels for Ladies and Gents with Permanent Buildings. Now the Present Strength of the College is 1125 in all courses.

        Apart from providing Excellence Quality Education in academic syllabus to students, we conduct Personality Development Classes, Career Guidance Classes, Seminars on Relevant Topics from renowned Universities Professors from Andhra University, Adikavi Nannaya University, Archarya Nagarjuna University and Sri Venkateswara University, Communication Skills Classes. From 2017 onwards, we are incorporated with APSSDC (Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Centre) for assigning Skill Development Classes on Computer and Commerce subjects like Basic Computer Topics, Python language, Java language, Tally, etc., Campus Interviews Training Programmes and Entrepreneurship Training Programmes. Every year we are conducting campus Interviews for the final year Degree Students.

        With due respect on our Culture and Leaders of our Country we Celebrate some Important Days in our college campus like, 12th January – Swami Vivekananda Birthday, 26th January – Republic Day, 28th February – National Science Day, History Day, 14th April – Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Birthday,15th August – Independence Day, 29th August – National Sports Day, Telugu Language Day, 5th September – Teacher’s Day, 14th November – Children’s Day, 2nd December – World Computer Literacy Day, 6th December – Dr.B.R Ambedkar Death Day, 22nd December – National Mathematics Day, 31st December – Welcoming New Year. For all these Auspicious Events, we invite University Vice- Chancellors, Professors, Government Officials, Political Leaders and Renowned Personalities as a Guest of Honour.

        Our College has 2 NSS Units, Students are Enthusiastic for participating in NSS Programmes. We had conducted NSS Camps in nearby villages, till now we covered nearly 30 villages. Through games and sports also we made our mark in the District, State and National Level. We proudly say that, Conducted” Adikavi Nannaya University Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament for Men in two consecutive years 2016 And 2017, Women Cricket Tournament 2017, Men and Women Sapak-Takraw Tournment 2019. “We Have Permanent Playgrounds for Badminton Court, Tennikoit Court, Men and Women Volleyball Courts, Kho-Kho Court, Men and Women Kabbadi Court, Sapak- Takaraw Court and Table- Tennis.

        In the Span of last 25 Years, Our Alumni Students are Government Teachers, Government Lecturers, Private Teachers, Private Lecturers, Police Inspectors, Police Constables, Software Employees (In & Out of India), Postal Clerks, Grama Secretaries, Manager Cadre Officers, Non-Manager Cadre Officers, Technical Officers, Non-Technical Officers, Army Officers, CRPF Officers, CISF Officers, BSF Officers, Entrepreneurs, Political Leaders, So far many of our Students settled in Government And Private Sectors in different fields. We are always in touch with Alumni Students and Invited them as Guests to our college, their Success Story is the Motivation for Present Students.
