Government Degree College, Chebrole, Guntur District was established during the academic year 1983-84, vide G.O. Ms. No. 376, Education (J) Department, dated 12.09.1983 of Government of Andhra Pradesh and communicated through Proceedings Rc. No. 221/K1-2/83, dated 13.09.1983 of the Director of Higher Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad. This college was started on 01.10.1983.
This college was established to cater the educational needs and aspirations of rural students in and around Chebrole Mandal. Most of the students are first generation literates of the family. Chebrole village is an historically important village. Its historical importance lies in "patimatti dibbalu" by which the ancient glory can be envisaged. There are altogether 101 temples in Chebrole village itself.
