Government Degree College, Pakala is established in the academic year 2008-09 as per the G.O.Ms.No. 182 dated 22-08-2008. Earlier students were going either to Tirupathi or to Chittoor to pursue their higher studies, and majority were compelled to put an end to their studies because of their meager financial resources. Poverty was standing in their way and prevented them from continuing their education after intermediate.
The public of Pakala made appeals to the Government to start degree college in Pakala for the benefit of poor students who belongs to S.C,S.T,B.C, minorities and other backward sections of the society. The Government, after taking the demand of public into consideration, issued orders to start the Government Degree College, Pakala. The College offers B.A, B.Sc(MPC and BZC) in Telugu medium, and B.Com(CA) in English medium courses.
The college is affiliated to S.V University, Tirupathi with a sanctioned strength of 60 in each group. The College has Jawahar Knowledge Centre, which trains the students in Communication Skills and Personality Development. Jawahar Knowledge Centre enables them to pursue several opportunities by conducting job drives, which helps the students skill-ready to be placed in both private and public sectors.
