St Teresas Arts And Science College,Kottakkal ,MalaSt. Teresa’s Arts and Science College, Kottakkal-Mala was started by St. Teresa’s Monastery Kottakkal-Mala which comes under Devamatha Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), an indigenous religious congregation founded in 1831 by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a saintly priest and versatile genius, who envisioned education as a tool for liberation and development. The college is managed by the C.M.I. Fathers of St.Teresa’s Monastery, Kottakkal-Mala. The Monastery was started by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara during 1868 as the second house of the C.M.I. Congregation in the Northern part of Kerala. The Monastery has decided to register a Public Educational and Charitable Trust so that the administration of the college can be done more effectively and with perpetuity. The trust is registered in the name of ST. TERESA’S EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE TRUST, KOTTAKKAL-MALA (REG. NO.621/ IV/SRO, EKM 24-09-2012) On 28/05/2013, Government of Kerala gave N.O.C. to the Trust to start a new self financing college (G.C.CRt) No. 947/2013/H.Edn.) On 16/07/2013, syndicate of University of Calicut sanctioned affiliation to the college. St. Teresa’s College is a part of a century - old tradition of CMI education that is at its heart, Christian and specifically catholic. It offers an ideal vision of education that is aware of and responsive to the challenges of the nation’s present situation.
