IHRD is committed to advancing the nation's economy, technology, and science through the development of its human resources. With more than 92 institutions, including 9 engineering colleges, IHRD is a significant academic hub. In the academic year 2004–2005, College of Engineering Attingal began operations with two-degree programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Later, Electrical and Electronics Engineering was approved. The Institution is an Affiliated Institution of APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University and has the All India Council for Technical Education's approval (KTU). The college has not submitted a request for NBA accreditation.
