A private college called College of Engineering and Technology-Payyanur (CET-Payyanur) was founded in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, admissions took place at Kannur University in Kerala; beginning in 2015, admissions will take place at A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) in Trivandrum, Kerala. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, has given the college its approval. The Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi, has also given its approval to the school's B.Arch division. It is a campus that offers technical programs in architecture and engineering. The National Educational and Charitable Foundation, a registered public charitable trust, established the campus to address a long-standing need for high-quality engineering and architectural education in North Malabar.
