In the month of June 2007, the IHRD first established a skill development center on the NKM Govt. HS campus in the Dhanuvachapuram Thiruvananthapuram District. As a result, the government approved the establishment of a College of Applied Science at Parassala under IHRD via G.O. (Rt) No. 386/08/H.Edn dated 07/03/2008. It was established in 2008 along with the Skill Development Centre and offers three U.G. programs, including B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Electronics, and B.Com. with Computer Application, with an annual intake of 50 students under the affiliation of Two PG programs—M.Sc. Computer Science and M.Sc. Electronics—began in 2012, each accepting 30 students.
The college is housed in two buildings on the NKM Govt. Boys High School Campus in Dhanuvachapuram that were built or modified with funds from a former Parassala Assembly constituency MLA's asset development fund. The principal room, office room, staff room, computer lab, electronics lab, and four class rooms are all arranged in the first building's nine (20'x20'size) rooms, which are connected by two stairs. There are four main rooms and an extended room in the second building, where four classrooms and the library are set up.
The Kollayil Grama Panchayath has provided a separate building with two stairs where the M.Sc. Computer Science and M.Sc. Electronics courses are offered, 1.5 kilometers away from the main campus.
The government has given out nearly 50 Are of government land for the construction of the permanent campus, about two kilometers from the Dhanuvachapuram Junction.
