Patriarch Ignatius Zaka II, his successor, formally recognized him as a saint.
The Patriarch Elias Charitable Society (Reg. No. 648/'82) was founded in 1982 at Kundara by His Grace Kuriakose Mor Coorilose Metropolitan of Kollam Niranam and Thumpamon Diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in honor of the Saint. The establishment of educational institutions in the area is the society's main goal. In accordance with orders from the Government of Kerala (Go (ms.) 460/2015 H. Education, dated 24/07/2015, and the University of Kerala (AC.BII/01/39368/2015, dated 17/6/2015), St. Mary's College of Arts and Science, affiliated with the University of Kerala, began operations in the same year.
