The Social Justice Department of the Keralan government registered NISH as a society. It is a self-governing organisation. The following accreditations have been granted to the ISO 9001-2015 certified institution:
1. The Rehabilitation Council of India rates this institution as "Excellent"
2. NAAC "Grade A" institution.
Dedicated to the identification, intervention, rehabilitation, and education of people with disabilities, NISH is a comprehensive, multipurpose institute. Since its founding in 1997, NISH has significantly improved the quality of life for people with disabilities. It has also made a trailblazing effort in putting various programmes for the disabled population into action throughout the state. NISH is home to an exceptional inclusive campus with staff and students who have a range of abilities.
