St. Joseph’s College for Women caters to around 1275 students with the support of about 62 teaching staff including permanent faculty and guest faculty and 22 non-teaching staff. Among the teaching staff, about 60 % have Ph.D. and most of the rest have M. Phil. as their highest degree while several are engaged in the process of obtaining their doctorate. Several members of the staff are engaged in externally funded research projects while several have completed projects.

The college was awarded B++ Grade with a CGPA of 2.87 on a scale of four in the third NAAC accreditation process conducted in 2018. The college has been able to combine the core values of higher education upheld by the Higher Educational Council and NAAC with its own vision and mission which stem from the educational policy evolved by the Canossian Congregation, guided by the precepts of St. Magdalene of Canossa, the founder of the order, thus ensuring value based education that aims at global competencies.

The college has made considerable progress academically and in the updating of its infrastructure facilities, while continuing to make its presence felt in the co-curricular and extra-curricular scenario. The Diamond Jubilee block housing an audirotium, mini theatre, research labs, classrooms and a basement car park is nearing completion. In 2015, the College was the recepient of grant from DST FIST for the infrastructural development of Science labs. In 2016, the College was granted the status of "College With Potential for Excellence" (CPE) by UGC, the only college to be granted it that year among colleges under the University of Kerala.

The college is the centre of many important socio-cultural events in Alleppey. The extension activities undertaken by the various organizations in the college including the NSS, the NCC, Women’s Study Unit, AICUF and Jesus Youth, have had a far-reaching impact on the community around. The alumni of the college have excelled in diverse spheres as evidenced by their success in their respective fields.
