St Cyril’s College, the pioneer institution of higher education managed by Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, came into existence in 1981 as a result of the prayers and relentless labour of a group of visionaries and Late Lamented His Holiness Mathews II who saw that social and economic progress of a heterogenous community is possible only through intellectual and spiritual enlightenment. Started in November 1981 as a Junior College affiliated to University of Kerala, the College offers Post Graduate courses in Physics, English and Degree courses in Chemistry, History, English, Economics and Commerce. The College is recognized under section 2(f) and 12(B)of the UGC Act of 1956. It had gained the Minority Status in 2011. In the year 2012 the college was accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade.
The College stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation based on love of God and service of man as modelled by Jesus Christ so as to produce intellectually trained, morally upright, socially committed, spiritually inspired young men and women. It endeavours to achieve the integral development of the blessed personality ensuring the possibility of living a fully human existence. The Malankara Orthodox Management is devoted to achieve this target by providing facilities for academic, professional and personal development. The general aim of the college is to provide quality education. The College also ensures the participation of women in the mainstream by giving due importance for their empowerment.
